After it appeared that Paulo Filho had reneged on his promise to turn the belt over to Sonnen if he lost, it appears that Filho is now handing the belt over and moving to the 205 lb ndivision. The two were set to rematch for the 185 lb title when Paulo Filho failed to make weight, forcing the commission to declare the bought a non-title fight.

The WEC is now officially down to 4 weight classes, beginining in 2009, focusing on the lighter weight classes. This has been expected, but took a little longer than everyone expected.
WEC weight classes now include: bantamweight (135), featherweight (145), lightweight (155) and welterweight (170) weight classes.
Card looks pretty good, three title fights…not to bad. And with the IFL now under Zuffa control, should be some fresh talent flowing into the UFC and WEC.
